In the fast moving pace of modern living style, stress and depression are not uncommon issues. Many people who work long hours and have inappropriate rest together always live a tight daily life, it would not be too surprising that their emotions could be in an alarming condition. So, what is the role of Feng Shui within this kind of circumstance?

Feng Shui is the ancient environmental science that has a strong connection between human interaction and the places they live in. The principles have never been changed and their ideological concepts and practices have been carried out for the last couple of thousands of years by many famous Feng Shui masters in Chinese history.
Thus, let's pinpoint that a loss of balance between the Yin-Yang environment will contribute to some severe illnesses including mental conditions and illness. For example, from Flying Star perspectives, when the Nine Purple Star met with Seven Red Star (9 7, 7 9) is the signal of too much Yang. Another common example is when the Six White Star were crushed and attacked by the Nine Purple Star (6 9, 9 6). These are typical cases when these Flying Stars are out of auspicious power and perform as a form of negative and inauspicious stars will noticeably cause many health and wealth issues that are deeply rooted with Feng Shui. From a Feng Shui point of view, practitioners call them “Feng Shui illnesses”.
To mildly avoid these potential issues, the following are some great tips that may be suitable for you.
01. Insufficient light
Light and sunlight is a source of energy for all living creatures. Sunny days certainly bring us a good mood. Getting your curtains drawn out and letting the sunlight shine into the house is vital. This will drastically improve the mood of your mental conditions. Avoid making mistakes that let your room and house always black out feeling like you live in the cave.
02. Colour Theme
The contemporary home design and decoration will prefer or tend to choose a settled stronger and deeper, darker colour as a main theme for their family and room. This style is very much welcome by certain younger generations and viewed as a stylish and fashionable trend. For the interior design point of view, it is no more than agree with this dark and style theme. However, from the angles of feng shui, it is not the case. Dark houses and dark rooms are too Yi and lacking bright sunlight is the root of “negative Chi”. These are very depressive and dangerous positions if any of your family members are in poor health condition. It may worsen this member's health if no further action intervenes.

03. Exposed trusses and beams
Pointy, shape and long pole certainly are not the favourite objects in feng shui practice.
Any beams and truss across the ceiling would be considered as very negative energy and resulting in certain illness. Sometimes, it reflects on severe accidents and other oppressive mental illnesses. Many cases, beams and trusses are exposed right on top of the house owner's bedroom. This is a very high statistical feng shui extrapolation that the person who lives and sleeps in this bedroom will have an extremely high chance of having or will be having mental illness and other serious and dreadful illness. So, this is a vital tip and can be avoided.
04. In-proportional size of living room.
Size does matter in feng shui, too small is basically too strained and too large the Yang Chi is too loose (no focus). The living room is too small and not in proportion will tend to have less effect and closeness of family relationship. Living room is the place where family members stay together to chat and to share. Too large and too small does not encourage them to create better living conditions. Further, too small and strained can be the root of tense and tight psychological conditions. Designing a right proportional size of your living room is absolutely critical.
05. Northwest missing section
Whether you are a believer or practitioner of Feng Shui, we should be aware that the Golden Dragon ( the most powerful lucky Chi) within the Eight Period Cycle until 2023 is in the North-East section. Whereas the next Cycle in 9th Period position of Golden Dragon will be in the North section. Therefore, the missing section of this position will have a direct effect on your wealth, health and all other vital things in your life. No work, no wealth, poor academics etc can be assured the depression and oppressive condition is the result of the performance of the mentioned issues.
